Backstreet boys to get new 'Bodyguard'

NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- After a three-year hiatus, the Backstreet Boys are staging a comeback helped by a new reality series on U.S. television called "Bodyguard."

As the boyband returns to the spotlight, it needs a new bodyguard and what better way to get one then through a "American Idol" type competition, MTV.com reported.

The series is being developed by the Backstreet Boys' management team, Wright-Crear Management, and is slated to be produced by Jonathan Taylor, creator of MTV's "The Osbournes."

The focus of the new reality series will be on the bodyguards and not the Backstreet Boys, but the singers will make appearances on the program and the final episode will have the winner work the first day of the group's arena tour.
