Singapore's Sentosa plans luge track

SINGAPORE, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Singapore's Sentosa Island is planning a $3.1 million luge track with an aerial chair lift to raise the island's fun quotient.

This would be the first such sledding track in Asia outside Japan.

Sentosa is in the midst of a dramatic makeover to turn itself into a hip island resort and world-class destination, the Business Times reports.

The proposed 650-metre luge track will link the cluster of attractions near the Carlsberg Sky Tower to Siloso Beach's entertainment hub. "Bringing the luge to Sentosa fits our ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the island with a host of entertaining and fun facilities for our guests," said Darrell Metzger, chief executive officer of Sentosa.

The luge is expected to be completed by the middle of next year.
