Gotti's daughter wants show to dispel myth

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- "Growing Up Gotti," A&E Network's new reality series features Victoria Gotti, daughter of reputed U.S. mob boss John Gotti, and her three teen sons.

The series, which debuted Monday, centers on Gotti, 41, and life in her $4 million Long Island, New York, mansion, the Scotsman reported.

Gotti said she wants the series to dispel people's perceptions of her as a mob princess.

"I'm tired of everybody labeling us as the First Mob Family. People make a lot of stupid assumptions about me when they hear my last name," she said.

Gotti may have a tough mission.

The opening episode shows Gotti, dripping in diamonds, preparing for blind date. When the man appears to be socially incompatible and bald, Gotti asks her chauffeur to get rid of him.

"I'll give you a thousand dollars if you take him to a ditch somewhere and roll him out," she said to her chauffeur after the date, adding "I'm serious."

Gotti, whose father died two years ago while in prison, has written five novels, been a New York Post columnist and is set to launch her own magazine.
