MEMPHIS, July 29 (UPI) -- Actor Anthony Anderson, who starred in "Me, Myself and Irene" and "Barbershop," has been charged with aggravated rape while shooting a film in Memphis.

Anderson, 33, and Wayne Witherspoon, 42, a film crew member, were charged Wednesday after a woman working as an extra on the film titled "Hustle and Flow" said the Los Angeles men lured her into a production trailer and sexually assaulted her, CNN reported.

Anderson and Witherspoon were to be arraigned Thursday, with bail expected to be set at $20,000 each.

"Witnesses reported seeing the woman leave the trailer screaming and without her clothes," said Steve Shular, Shelby County Sheriff's Department public affairs officer.

The woman was taken to a hospital, but authorities would not comment on her condition or if she had been released.

Anderson's spokesman released a statement denying the actor's involvement in the incident.

"Anthony is a happily married family man who has never been accused of -- no less involved in -- anything remotely like this, and we are confident that when all the facts come out, he will be completely exonerated," the statement said.
