Rapper C-Murder indicted in second case

BATON ROUGE, La., July 27 (UPI) -- A Louisiana grand jury has indicted rapper C-Murder on attempted murder charges, even as he awaits a new trial in the shooting death of a teenager.

The latest charges stem from an incident three years ago at Baton Rouge's Club Raggs, in which C-Murder -- whose real name is Corey Miller -- allegedly pulled a semi-automatic pistol and tried to shoot the club's owner after being denied entrance to the nightclub, E! Online reported Tuesday.

The pistol reportedly failed to fire. Miller then turned the gun on a security guard and fired, with the gun again malfunctioning. Miller then fled to his car,, but the entire incident was taped by a security video camera.

If convicted, Miller faces up to 50 years in prison.

The indictment comes three months after a Louisiana judge ruled Miller deserved a new trial in the shooting death of Steve Thomas, a 16-year-old boy who died outside a Jefferson Parish nightclub on Jan. 12, 2002.

The new trial was ordered because the judge said prosecutors withheld key information about witnesses.

The first trial ended in Miller's conviction of second-degree murder.
