Cinderella is Hilary Duff's favorite tale

LOS ANGELES, July 25 (UPI) -- Teen actress and pop star Hilary Duff says she was happy to star in the new Hollywood movie "A Cinderella Story" because it was her favorite fairy tale.

"When I was growing up, 'Cinderella' was, of course, my favorite fairy tale," the 16-year-old Texas native recently told reporters. "I think it's every little girl's favorite fairy tale. I was really excited when I got the script and it's all modern-day and updated."

Asked what aspect of performing she finds most satisfying, the "Lizzie McGuire" star and "So Yesterday" singer replied, "Definitely singing."

"When you're on stage and you have a sold-out venue of 15,000 people and they all know every single word to your songs and they're holding up huge signs and freaking out, it's just like: Oh, my God! The support you're getting from them and the energy!

"But then also you feel a very accomplished, rewarding feeling when you finish a movie and you're like, 'Ok, I did it.' But the singing definitely gives you more energy."

"A Cinderella Story" is in theaters now.
