LOS ANGELES, July 22 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles judge gave actor Nick Nolte high marks for his successful rehabilitation following his 2002 arrest for driving under the influence.
Nolte was in court Wednesday as a follow-up to his charge two years ago for driving under the influence, Celebrity Justice reported Thursday.
"(The court-certified recovery specialist) indicates you're doing extremely well. In fact, you're very proactive in terms of getting things done. So I'm very pleased with the progress on this. So far, so good," Judge Lawrence Mira told the actor.
Nolte's attorney, Mark Werksman, said the judge suggested he could get a year trimmed from his probation if he keeps up the good work.
"He's hosting meetings at his own home to help other people deal with their dependency issues," Werksman said.
Nolte said said his advice to anyone struggling with similar issues is: "Face the pain."
