NBC Universal, O'Brien in legal battle

LOS ANGELES, July 14 (UPI) -- NBC Universal has failed to stop former "Access Hollywood" anchor Pat O'Brien from promoting his new Paramount show "The Insider."

A Los Angeles judge refused to grant a temporary restraining order against O'Brien although his NBC Universal contract runs until the end of August, the Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

"In court papers we filed today, we sought to enforce the terms we had in place with Mr. O'Brien, who still remains under contract with 'Access Hollywood,' " NBC Universal said in a statement.

Superior Court Judge Andria Richey denied the request Tuesday but set another hearing for July 23.

NBC Universal doesn't necessarily want Pat O'Brien back on "Access Hollywood," but they don't want him moving on with his career for another six weeks, says another report.
