LOS ANGELES, July 8 (UPI) -- The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced =Garry Shandling will host the 56th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 19.

It will be Shandling's second time as host of the show. He previously hosted in 2000.

Emmy-winning producer Don Mischer, who produced the 2000 Emmys telecast, will also produce this year's show -- his eighth Emmys telecast overall. He told The Hollywood Reporter he looks forward to working with Shandling again.

"Garry is really respected and liked by people in the community," Mischer said. "He puts a lot of time and effort into (his role as host), and he's funny and can roll with the punches -- which is important for a live show."

The prime time Emmys telecast rotates among the big four TV networks. It will be on ABC this year.
