Bonnie Somerville joins 'NYPD Blue' cast

LOS ANGELES, July 6 (UPI) -- Bonnie Somerville will become a regular cast member on "NYPD Blue" for the show's 12th and final season on ABC, The Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday.

Somerville, best known as the star of the NBC comedy "In-Laws" and the WB comedy "Grosse Pointe," will play a detective who adds sex appeal to the precinct.

Somerville also appeared in recurring roles on NBC's "Friends" and Fox's "The O.C."
