LONG ISLAND, N.Y., June 30 (UPI) -- Teen actress Lindsey Lohan's dad was arrested outside a New York court for failing to pay $3,800 in hotel charges as he showed up to face assault allegations.
Suffolk County detectives handcuffed Michael Lohan Tuesday outside the Mineola courthouse on charges he never paid his bill at the Oheka Castle, in Huntington, N.Y., where he stayed in $700-per-night suites, the New York Post reported Wednesday.
Lohan was at the courthouse for a legal conference regarding his assault charge from an alleged attack on Matt Sullivan, his brother-in-law, at a first communion party in May in Merrick, N.Y.
The new charges stem from hotel stays from April 12 to 14 for "Hollywood people," an assistant at Oheka Castle said.
Suffolk Detective Lt. Ken Fasano said Oheka reported the debt, which resulted in Lohan's arrest for theft of services.
After renting the rooms, Lohan "said he would pay at a later date but numerous attempts by Oheka to collect payment" were unsuccessful, Fasano said.
Lohan was released Tuesday on $250 bail.
