NEW YORK, June 29 (UPI) -- "Scream" star Neve Campbell is returning to live theater after an 11-year break because of a lack of interesting TV and film scripts.
Campbell will open in "Syncopation," Oct. 24 in New York, World Entertainment News Network reported Tuesday. It will mark her first stage role since she performed in Toronto's "Phantom of the Opera" in 1993.
"I just feel the urge to get back on stage now. I'm sort of disappointed in the scripts I'm reading. I would rather go do a play than sit at home moping," Campbell said. "I know it will help me grow as an actor and it will be good to work my muscles again."
In Allan Knee's play, Campbell plays an introverted New York factory worker who falls in love when she starts taking ballroom dance lessons.
Campbell played Julia Salinger on TV's "Party of Five."
