SEATTLE, June 29 (UPI) -- Questions about the legal heirs of Jimi Hendrix's estate, as well as who should run the late guitarist's empire, are being debated in a Seattle courtroom.
The trial began Monday in King County Superior Court in which sibling Leon Hendrix has challenged the will of the Hendrix patriarch, who inherited the famous brother's fortune, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Tuesday.
Leon has alleged that his sister, Janie Hendrix, convinced their father to cut Leon out of the will prior to Al Hendrix's 2002 death, although a 1998 version of the will included all of the siblings.
Leon wants the will and trust voided and a new one written installing him as an heir, the Post-Intelligencer said.
The neglected brother has pointed to his sister's extravagant use of Experience Hendrix LLC funds -- including a $437,000 home loan -- as motive for cutting Leon out and putting herself in charge.
The estate of the guitarist, who died in 1970, generates approximately $8 million annually.
