Martha Stewart sentencing delayed

NEW YORK, June 25 (UPI) -- A federal judge in New York has delayed Martha Stewart's sentencing for the second time in two weeks, CNN/Money reported Friday.

Stewart, who was due to be sentenced July 8, is now due to be sentenced July 16, a court clerk said.

Stewart is to be sentenced along with her broker, Peter Bacanovic. They were convicted in March on charges of obstruction of justice.

Prosecutors said Stewart's lawyers had requested the delay.

Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum is considering motions for a new trial, requested by defense lawyers after a key witness, Larry Stewart, an ink expert at the Secret Service, admitted he gave false testimony. Larry Stewart is not related to Martha Stewart.
