Tim Robbins headed for 'Zathura'

LOS ANGELES, June 23 (UPI) -- Tim Robbins is reportedly in final talks to star in Columbia Pictures' adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg's books "Zathura.'

Jon Favreau, who directed last year's Will Ferrell hit comedy "Elf," is directing, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

"Zathura" -- like Allsburg's book "Jumanji" -- centers around a family whose life is turned chaotic by the discovery of a mysterious board game. In "Jumanji" the game released fantasy creatures into the house and neighborhood. In "Zathura" the board game sends kids into an intergalactic new world.

Robbins -- who won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar last February for "Mystic River" -- reportedly would play the kids' dad.
