Duran Duran announce new studio album

NEW YORK, June 16 (UPI) -- The original members of Duran Duran have announced plans to release their first new album together since 1983's "Seven & the Ragged Tiger."

Simon LeBon, Andy Taylor, John Taylor, Roger Taylor and Nick Rhodes have been writing in the south of France and recording in London, said a statement from their label, Epic Records. The band members are working with producers Rich Harrison and Don Gilmore.

Epic said the as-yet untitled album would be released worldwide in October 2004.

Duran Duran recently completed a series of 17 sold-out arena dates in England and Ireland. They were honored at the recent BRIT Awards, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

LeBon said he and his band mates rediscovered their original musical chemistry after reuniting in 2003 for a 25th anniversary tour.

"When we decided to reunite, the first thing we did was head to France to test our chemistry," he said. "It became really clear that the magic was still there."
