LOS ANGELES, June 15 (UPI) -- Ken Jennings, a software engineer from Salt Lake City, Utah, has competed on the TV show "Jeopardy!" a record 11 consecutive nights.

In breaking the record of seven consecutive appearances set by contestant Tom Walsh, Jennings has amassed more than $340,000.

"What he did was not only break the record, but also shatter the record for cash winnings (For consecutive appearances)," a spokesman for the show told the New York Post. "He's now been on the show longer than any other contestant."

The show lifted its five-day win limit last fall, allowing contestants to remain on the show as long as they win.

Jennings' winnings so far place him 24th among all-time syndicated game show winners in total winnings, said tvgameshows.net.
