The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday Cablevision's Rainbow Media Networks is also developing a similar channel.

Logo will air content targeted at gay and lesbian viewers ages 25-49.

MTV Networks chairman Tom Freston told reporters in a conference call Logo will be able to benefit from MTV Networks infrastructure in such areas as advertising sales and distribution to cable and satellite systems.

Logo has acquired rights to such films as "Gods & Monsters," "Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story" and "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane."

Freston said Logo would maintain comparatively restrictive content standards since it will be advertiser-supported.
