LOS ANGELES, May 25 (UPI) -- HBO has called off plans for a feature film version of its long-running hit "Sex and the City," Daily Variety reported Tuesday.
The cable channel pulled the plug after Kim Cattrall -- who was nominated twice for an Emmy for her performance as the sexually-energetic Samantha Jones -- informed producers she could not commit to the project.
Cattrall's publicist, Maret Britto, told Variety the actress wanted to do the movie, but it has taken so long to set it up, she needed to move on to other projects.
"Kim would of course love to do the film and would be happy to revisit the project in the future," Britto said.
Variety cited sources, however, who said money was an issue. As the film's star, Sarah Jessica Parker was to be paid more than Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.
Variety said Cattrall wanted "parity" with Parker, but was rejected. Britto denied that was the case.
