LOS ANGELES, May 14 (UPI) -- ABC talk show host Jimmy Kimmel suffered an allergic reaction to Advil during a taping of his usually live late night program this week.

The host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" was rushed to a Beverly Hills, Calif., hospital immediately following Wednesday's taping for a reaction to the pain reliever, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

"I know this sounds like one of Courtney Love's stories," Kimmel said of the incident. "But I took about eight Advils during the day yesterday -- which is about five too many -- and my head blew up like a float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

"I went to the emergency room and they let all the helium out," Kimmel said.

Kimmel, who had taken Advil for back pain, began feeling sick as taping for his show began, an ABC spokesman said, but pressed on through the entire show despite his face getting puffier, his eyes swelling shut and his voice turning hoarse.

Kimmel was back in the office Thursday although his face was still a little puffy, the Daily News said.
