NAPLES, Fla., May 12 (UPI) -- A new trial date has been set in a battery case involving the lead guitarist for the rock group, Rush, the Naples Daily News reported Wednesday.
However, Alex Zivojinovich's defense attorney said he doesn't expect the trial will actually begin as planned on June 14, a date which falls right in the middle of the group's upcoming 30th anniversary tour.
"There is a lot of discovery left to do. The trial isn't looming anytime soon," said Jerry Berry, Zivojinovich's Florida defense attorney. "We don't anticipate any problems with the tour."
Under terms of his bond, Zivojinovich is allowed to travel.
Zivojinovich, known on stage as Alex Lifeson, and his son, Justin Zivojinovich, are facing charges related to an altercation they are alleged to have had with Collier County sheriff's deputies on New Year's Eve at the Ritz-Carlton, Naples.
Justin a;;egedly jumped up on the stage and disrupted a performance by Freddy Cole, Nat King Cole's brother, and his band.
Alex allgedly got involved when deputies were escorting his son off the property and pushing a deputy down a stairwell and causing her to hit her head on a concrete floor.
