Football in way of 'Bachelor's' love quest

NEW YORK, May 12 (UPI) -- Jesse Palmer's training schedule with the New York Giants has begun interfering with the quarterback's stint on the popular reality series "The Bachelor."

Palmer is spending this week on the playing field, fighting to keep his spot as backup quarterback, which has relegated his TV role as the current season's "Bachelor" to the back seat during the rigorous schedule, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Palmer is only available to the ABC show when he isn't training, which has thrown a wrench in promotional plans, particularly on May 27, the day after Palmer is set to choose his love on the popular dating show.

In past seasons, the new couple made the rounds of the morning talk shows, continuing the show's buzz. This season, however, Palmer will be back on the field May 27, with no TV promo opportunities available until the following day.

"He's been very clear all along the football is No. 1 one for him," said a "Bachelor" spokeswoman.
