Moby expands tearoom with cookbook, drinks

NEW YORK, May 4 (UPI) -- Musician Moby has expanded his New York tea room business to include a cookbook and a line of beverages.

"The Teany Book," named for the tiny cafe the musician opened in May 2002, will include recipes, history and fun facts from Moby, MTV reported Tuesday.

The book will be "fun, quirky, (and) idiosyncratic," said Vigliano, Moby's book agent, adding that the history, however, will be fictional, pretending the vegetarian tea room has been part of the Lower East Side for generations.

Moby also has added a beverage line featuring bottled versions of the cafe's iced teas and coolers to his offerings.

The drinks, available in June, initially only will be distributed in New York, in stores such as Gourmet Garage and Dean & DeLuca, but a national line is in the works.

Teany became a hot spot when it first opened, attracting the likes of Gywneth Paltrow, Alicia Silverstone, Susan Sarandon, Andy Dick, Jason Schwartzman and others.
