Dame Edna returning to Broadway

NEW YORK, April 30 (UPI) -- Australian funnyman Barry Humphries is planning to bring his female alter-ego Dame Edna back to Broadway, Daily Variety reported Friday.

Humphries' new gender-bending show, "Back With a Vengeance," is scheduled to begin performances Nov. 5 at Manhattan's Broadhurst Theater, the trade paper noted.

Prior to opening on Broadway, the show will play six weeks at San Francisco's Curran Theater, beginning Aug. 31, Variety said.

Humphries' last Broadway engagement was "Dame Edna: The Royal Tour," which played 297 performances during the 1999-2000 seasons.
