NEW YORK, April 28 (UPI) -- Four-time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore says she loved working on the film "Laws of Attraction" because it let her try her hand at humor.

In the romantic comedy coming out Friday, Moore plays a by-the-books Manhattan divorce attorney who falls in love with a rival played by Pierce Brosnan.

"I have never done a straight-up, old-fashioned romantic comedy and this was really my first shot at one," Moore told reporters in New York recently. "So, this was a very traditional kind of form and I love them. Everybody loves them. They're fun. They're smart. They're literate.

"And I really liked the way it's written. (They) are interesting characters, too. It's a formula to it, but you sort of feel like, 'Oh, these are individuals.'"

Moore is best-known for her performances in the dramas "The Hours," "Far From Heaven," "Magnolia" and "The End of the Affair."
