LOS ANGELES, April 21 (UPI) -- The Disney adventure "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" has been nominated for a leading six MTV Movie Awards, MTV reported Wednesday.
The Johnny Depp blockbuster earned nods in the top categories Best Movie, Best Male, Best Villain, Best Comedic Performance, Best On-Screen Team and Breakthrough Female.
Following close behind "Pirates" with four nominations were the Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore romantic comedy "50 First Dates" and the comic-book adaptation "X2: X-Men United," both of which are also competing for the Best Movie prize.
Also nominated in the top category were "Finding Nemo" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King."
The 2004 MTV Movie Awards is scheduled to air June 10 at 9 p.m. EDT.
