Rhino to remake 'She Freak'

LOS ANGELES, April 16 (UPI) -- Rhino Films jumped on the bandwagon for remakes of 1960s and '70s horror films Friday by updating the 1967 cult classic, "She Freak."

The movie is being developed by screenwriting duo Tim Sullivan and Chris Kobin, who recently penned another horror remake, "2001 Maniacs," starring Robert Englund, for GreeneStreet Films' Raw Nerve.

Originally produced by David Friedman, the campy "Freak" offers a female twist on "The Phantom of the Opera" set amid a traveling rock 'n' roll carnival sideshow. Sullivan, who helmed "Maniacs," is considering a directorial position on "Freak," the Hollywood Reporter said Friday.
