'Knight Rider' heading to the big screen

LOS ANGELES, April 13 (UPI) -- David Hasselhoff is reportedly planning to co-produce and star in a big-screen version of his 1980s talking-car show "Knight Rider."

Although Hasselhoff will reprise his role as Michael Knight, he will not be the film's lead crime-fighter, nor will he pilot the talking super-car K.I.T.T., Empire Magazine Online reported Tuesday.

This time around, the actor will take over the mentor role that character Devon Miles served in the series.

The star of the film version will apparently be Knight's son, who will take charge of the family business and whom the producers would like to see played by Ben Affleck, Empire said.

Hasselhoff is also eager for William Daniels to again offer his voice to the talking car.

Filming is expected to begin later this year.
