LOS ANGELES, April 12 (UPI) -- Minnie Driver says she didn't sing all of her arias in the new film version of "Phantom of the Opera" because she had trouble hitting all those high notes.
In the film due out this December, Driver plays an opera star whose career is threatened by a younger singer.
Although the "Ella Enchanted" and "Good Will Hunting" actress began her career as a singer, Driver admitted her voice wasn't quite ready to tackle the Mozart and Wagner arias her character sings in operas in the film.
"You have to be such an accomplished singer. I could only fake it to a point. I could sing the low stuff, but not the high stuff," Driver told the Calgary Sun. "With those notes, it was like glass breaking and dogs beginning to howl. There was no way I could hit those notes."
