NEW YORK, April 8 (UPI) -- MTV is set to honor 31-year-old television personality Carson Daly with a Lifetime Achievement Award, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.
The former host of MTV's "Total Request Live" series, who now has his own late-night NBC talk show, will receive the prize at the TRL Awards ceremony in New York next Tuesday.
"Carson Daly is synonymous with 'TRL ...' He was with us from the very beginning, and helped us define and shape it into MTV's flagship show," Tony DiSanto, senior vice president of MTV Productions, said in making the announcement. "'TRL' wouldn't have happened without him, so when it came to decide who gets this year's Lifetime Achievement Award, the decision was clear."
The previous winner of the award was 34-year-old rap impresario Sean "Puffy" Combs.
