Blue's singer sues British police

LONDON, April 8 (UPI) -- Blue's singer Lee Ryan has filed a complaint against Scotland Yard because the British police agency released his home address.

Lee, who was arrested last September for drunken driving, said the Metropolitan Police breached his confidentiality by publicizing his address with his arrest information, Britain's Mirror reported Thursday.

"It's a messy business. He had no problem with Scotland Yard confirming his arrest, but when his address was given out he quite rightly thought he had been wronged," a source told The Mirror.

"Lee recognizes he's in the public eye, but doesn't need aggravation caused by the police when they cause problems for him," he said. "It was out of order and the police should accept they were wrong."

Lee's spokesman said the singer wants an apology and may sue the law enforcement agency.

Scotland Yard has confirmed its attorneys have responded to Lee's complaint.

Lee was convicted of drunken driving and received an 18-month driving ban from the September arrest.
