AUSTIN, Texas, April 7 (UPI) -- While promoting his new film "The Alamo" in Texas recently, actor Billy Bob Thornton described former wife Angelina Jolie as one of his best friends.
"I actually have never set the record straight," he said when asked about Jolie during a news conference. "If I set the record straight, I'd be talking about people and I won't do that. I've never said anything but good things about any relationship I've had and, frankly, that's all I remember about them.
"I have the utmost respect for my ex-wife. She's a very sweet person and I just talked to her... She's a wonderful person and a very talented person and one of my best friends in the world and that's the reason I have no problem talking about it. There is not any dirt."
Asked about reports his cheating broke up his marriage to the Oscar-winning beauty, Thornton replied: "I didn't cheat. She knows that."
"The Alamo" opens Friday.
