LOS ANGELES, April 5 (UPI) -- The producers of "Scooby-Doo 2" say a third installment of the franchise is possible even if the entire cast doesn't return for another outing.

"We certainly had everyone for the second one," producer Charles Roven told reporters in Los Angeles shortly before the film's release, noting that when you're dealing with well-known actors, "It's kind of hard to make multiple deals."

"We absolutely don't have a guarantee of a third. I think we're waiting to see how well this one does."

Added producer Richard Suckle: "I think the characters having lived as long as they have really do stand on their own. The actors who play them, we'd love to have them. But I think that if there was the desire to make a third movie and we couldn't get everybody to agree, I think we could move forward."

The two "Scooby-Doo" movies starred Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Linda Cardellini as Velma, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne and Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, while the title character was a computer-generated mutt.

"Scooby Doo 2," in theaters now, has made $50 million at the box office.
