LONDON, April 5 (UPI) -- British movie fans have chosen heartthrob Colin Firth as their No. 1 choice to replace Pierce Brosnan as film super spy James Bond.

Firth, who played Mr. Darcy in the popular BBC television series "Pride and Prejudice" and an updated version of the same character in the romantic comedy "Bridget Jones's Diary," most recently starred in "Love Actually" and "Girl with a Pearl Earring."

According to a poll conducted by the video chain Choices Video, "Beyond Borders" actor Clive Owen came in second place, "American Psycho" villain Christian Bale came in third, "Cold Mountain" actor Jude Law in fourth and "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" hero Sean Bean in fifth, the World Entertainment News Network said Monday.

Eon, the production company behind the James Bond franchise, has yet to reveal who will play the the sexy agent in the next 007 film, leading to speculation Brosnan will be replaced.
