LONDON, April 3 (UPI) -- Duran Duran drummer Roger Taylor has announced in London he and his wife Giovanna Cantone Taylor have separated after 19 years of marriage.
Pop star and make-up artist Taylor decided in January that the separation was "the most sensible thing" for them and their three children, Sky News reported.
"Both of them felt they needed some time and space on their own to reflect on the future and to work through their marriage," said Duran Duran spokesman Gerard Franklin. "Roger and Giovanna remain the best of friends as they work through this difficult period together."
The couple, who reside in London, have two sons, ages 16 and 12, and a 9-year-old daughter.
Duran Duran is scheduled to start a month-long tour in the United Kingdom in Belfast, Northern Ireland, next week.
