LOS ANGELES, April 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. singer Pink has been cast to play rock superstar Janis Joplin in a new biographical film, Entertainment Tonight reported Friday.

Pink, whose real name is Alecia Moore, will make her acting debut in "The Gospel According to Janis." The singer reportedly will perform Joplin's songs herself in the film, rather than lip-sync to tracks.

"Gospel" is the second movie about the deceased singer in the works; Renee Zellweger is working on "Piece of My Heart."
