STOUGHTON, Mass., March 26 (UPI) -- Singer Bobby Brown has paid $63,000 in back child support to free himself from a Massachusetts jail where he spent the night, E!Online reported Friday.
A Norfolk County judge had ordered Wednesday for Brown to either pay up or spend 90 days in jail for failure to pay child support to Kim Ward, mother of two of Brown's children.
Brown, who is married to singer Whitney Houston, had testified that he had no money because he was unemployed.
When leaving the courthouse after his release Thursday, Brown told reporters: "I thought it was paid. Things happen like that when other people are dealing with your business."
Brown was scheduled to return to the Massachusetts court Friday for a postpayment hearing.
Brown still faces misdemeanor battery charges in Atlanta for allegedly hitting Houston, leaving her with a bruised cheek and cut lip. He has a May 5 court date in Fulton County, Ga., for those charges.
