John Belushi to get star on Walk of Fame

LOS ANGELES, March 25 (UPI) -- The late comedian John Belushi will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said Thursday.

The star of such comedy classics as "Animal House" and "The Blues Brothers" will be honored April 1, which the announcement pointed out is April Fool's Day.

Actor Jim Belushi will accept the honor on behalf of his brother, who died at 33 in 1982 from a drug overdose. Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi's widow, Judy Belushi Pisano, will take part in the unveling ceremony.

Belushi broke into comedy in his native Chicago, eventually joining the famed Second City comedy troupe, where he performed with such future standouts as Harold Ramis, Brian Doyle Murray and Joe Flaherty.

He performed off-Broadway in "National Lampoon's Lemmings" and gained national fame in 1975 as one of the original "Not Ready for Prime Time Players" on NBC's groundbreaking "Saturday Night Live."

He created the memorable character of Bluto in "Animal House" in 1978. In 1980, he and Aykroyd adapted their "SNL" Blues Brothers sketch characters for the big screen.
