NC-17 rating stands for 'Young Adam'

LOS ANGELES, March 22 (UPI) -- Producers of the Hollywood film "Young Adam" have lost an appeal to reverse an NC-17 rating because of a fully-clothed lovemaking scene.

The Motion Picture Association of America denied the producers' request to remove the NC-17 rating in favor of an R rating, citing extreme sexual content, Zap2it.com reported Monday.

The Sony Pictures Classics film stars Ewan McGregor, Tilda Swinton, Peter Mullan, and Emily Mortimer, with David McKenzie directing.

"Young Adam" is produced by Jeremy Thomas, who recently fought a similar ratings battle with the MPAA over Bernardo Bertolucci's "The Dreamers," which had brief male frontal nudity.
