HOLLYWOOD, March 19 (UPI) -- Stage and screen icon Julie Andrews has recovered from complications of a 1997 throat operation and is singing again.
Best-known for her roles in "Mary Poppins" and "The Sound of Music," Andrews shot musical scenes for the upcoming Disney movie, "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement," the BBC reported Friday.
In the film, Andrews sings a song called "Your Crowning Glory," which was written with a limited vocal range so it would not be too demanding on her recovering voice.
Dawn Soler, the film's music supervisor, said: "She nailed the song on the first take. I looked around and I saw grips with tears in their eyes."
Andrews, 68, settled a malpractice claim against two doctors at New York's Mount Sinai hospital over the botched operation.
Last year, Andrews revealed her doubts that she would ever sing in public again because her voice had still not recovered.
