Actor Cruise fires long-time publicist

HOLLYWOOD, March 13 (UPI) -- Some say it was an amicable parting, others say not, but undisputed is that actor Tom Cruise has fired his publicist of the past 14 years, Pat Kingsley.

The New York Daily News Saturday said the split was triggered by Kingsley's counsel to Cruise to stop talking so much about his Scientologist beliefs.

Cruise's sister LeeAnne Devette, also a Scientologist, said the separation was friendly and that if Cruise does not talk about Scientology people say he's keeping it a mystery on purpose.

Kingsley herself said she still has the greatest respect for Cruise professionally and personally.
