LOS ANGELES, March 12 (UPI) -- Entertainment Weekly has named Chris Rock the funniest man in America in its list of the nation's 25 funniest people.

"Watching Rock in 2004, 21 years into his comedy career, is like watching a great prize fighter in peak condition," the magazine said.

Rock, 38, currently is on the road with his act, which will culminate in an HBO special.

Comedy Central's Jon Stewart ranked second on the list, with actor Will Ferrell coming in third.

Larry David, Dave Chappelle, Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Murray, Jim Carrey and Jack Black also earned high marks by the magazine.

David Letterman barely missed making the Top 10 list, as the veteran talk show host ranked No. 11.

Jay Leno, however, did not make the list at all.
