NEW YORK, March 8 (UPI) -- Actress Liv Tyler told UPI she loved singing a song from "Sweeney Todd" in Kevin Smith's new romantic comedy, "Jersey Girl."
"I've actually never seen the musical. I'd heard a little bit of a tape of the song and the first thing we ever did was all got in a room and we rehearsed it with this guy that was totally quirky from 'Waiting for Guffman' and we couldn't stop laughing," the daughter of Aerosmith front-man Steve Tyler told UPI.
"And then we recorded it in a recording studio before we ever sort of acted it out, so it was kind of bizarre, so I was just sitting there in a room with Kevin with these headphones on just being totally over the top. But it was really fun. It was a really good way actually to break the ice for all of us to have to act together."
Liv Tyler plays single dad Ben Affleck's love interest in "Jersey Girl."
Tyler and Affleck, who also co-starred in the 1998 movie "Armageddon," perform a scene from the macabre musical at the Catholic grammar school of Affleck's on-screen 8-year-old daughter.
