Soap exec fired after nude scene

NEW YORK, March 4 (UPI) -- "Guiding Light" producer John Conboy was fired one week after a sex scene aired on the CBS soap showing an actor's nude behind.

"The scene that was written on the page was not what we signed off on," said CBS spokeswoman Beth Haiken told Thursday's New York Post.

Haiken also said there were other factors that led to Conboy's exit, but she failed to list specifics.

The scene in question, in which Aubrey Dollar (Marina) revealed the rear of Marty West (Shayne) when she pulled down his underwear, aired Feb. 20 -- 19 days after Janet Jackson's breast was exposed during the Super Bowl halftime show.

Since then, the Federal Communications Commission has clamped down on indecency on the airwaves, creating a heightened sensitivity for broadcasters.

Soaps, however, are notorious for frequent love romps and scantily-clad actors. CBS received only three calls and one e-mail from complaining viewers after the "Guiding Light" episode aired.
