Janet Jackson to host 'SNL'

NEW YORK, March 4 (UPI) -- Janet Jackson will host "Saturday Night Live" on April 10, two weeks after the release of her CD "Damita Jo," NBC announced Thursday.

Jackson has been at the center of a scandal since the Super Bowl in Houston last month, when fellow performer Justin Timberlake tore off a piece of her costume, exposing her right breast at the end of the globally televised halftime show.

When she hosts "SNL," Jackson will join a relatively exclusive group of performers who have served as both host and musical guest. The list includes Ray Charles, Jennifer Lopez, Dolly Parton, Paul Simon, Britney Spears Sting, Stevie Wonder and Timberlake.

Jackson's acting credits include roles on such TV series as "Good Times" and "Diff'rent Strokes" and the feature films "Poetic Justice" and "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps."

NBC also announced that Ben Affleck will host "SNL" on March 13.
