Beyonce's band foils mugging

PALM BEACH, Fla., March 3 (UPI) -- Pop star Beyonce Knowles' band helped capture an alleged mugger of a 91-year-old man in Palm Beach County, Fla., it was reported Wednesday.

Three members of the band and a drug store employee chased the suspect Tuesday and held him for police, the Palm Beach Post reported.

Police said Malcolm Clemons approached Reynold Caleen with a knife. He tried to pull the great-grandfather from his car and grabbed his wallet, police said.

Caleen fought back, knocking the knife out of Clemons' hands. Clemons jumped into the car and tried to drive away, but the band drove up behind him and blocked him off.

Police said Clemons jumped out of the car and took off on foot, but the band and a Walgreen's employee chased and caught him.

The group is in town practicing for Knowles' tour that begins March 12 in Sunrise, Fla.

Mrs. Richie demands $300,000 a month

LOS ANGELES, March 3 (UPI) -- The estranged wife of U.S. entertainer Lionel Richie is seeking $300,000 in monthly support payments, TheSmokingGun Web site reports.

The Web site quotes court papers that claim the money would be used to maintain the extravagant lifestyle to which Diane Lionel, 37, has become accustomed.

TheSmokingGun.com lists the following as some of her monthly expenses: clothing, shoes and accessories ($15,000), dermatology ($3,000), laser hair removal ($1,000) and jewelry ($5,000).

The payments would also fund the woman's $20,000 annual plastic surgery bills, the Web site said.

'Spider-man 3' in the works?

HOLLYWOOD, March 3 (UPI) -- Four months before "Spider-Man 2" is due in U.S. theaters, Entertainment Tonight says a third installment in the franchise is already in the works.

The entertainment news program says producers are looking to release a third film in 2006 or 2007.

Star Tobey Maguire has also apparently been told to keep time clear in his schedule for the project.

The first "Spider-Man" movie broke records when it was released in May 2002. In its first weekend, the Marvel comic superhero brought in $115 million and went on to make $800 million worldwide, ET noted.

"Spider-Man 2" will hit theaters July 2.

Roy of 'Siegfried and Roy' is up and about

LAS VEGAS, Nev., March 3 (UPI) -- Las Vegas illusionist Roy Horn of Siegfried and Roy is walking for the first time since he was mauled by a white tiger during a show last October.

The Horn, 59, is able to take steps with the aid of a walker, the BBC reported Wednesday.

A spokesman for Horn said he is training intensively. It is unclear when, if ever, the famed duo will resume performing. Their show was shut down indefinitely when Horn's accident occurred five months ago.

His partner, Siegfried Fischbacher, has been optimistic about Horn's recovery. The two men, born in Germany, met many years ago when they were staffers on a cruise ship.

Their Las Vegas act, considered one of the Sin City's signature shows, featured hundreds of lavishly costumed peformers and white tigers. They had performed in Las Vegas for 35 years, the past 13 years at The Mirage hotel.
