LONDON, March 3 (UPI) -- Angela Lansbury, the detective in TV's "Murder She Wrote," will end a 20-year absence from the silver screen with the British movie "Nanny McPhee."

Lansbury will portray one of the relatives in the film about a magical nanny who looks after seven wayward children, Empire magazine online said. The film also will feature Emma Thompson and Colin Firth.

Lansbury will play the children's great-aunt, who threatens to take away one of the kids to live with her if they fail to toe the line.

The movie's screenplay was adapted by Thompson, based on the books by Christianna Brand about a nurse named Matilda.

Lansbury has not appeared on the big screen since "A Company of Wolves" in 1984.
