William Shatner headed to 'The Practice'

LOS ANGELES, Calif., March 1 (UPI) -- William Shatner will appear in four episodes of ABC's "The Practice," marking the "Star Trek" star's first dramatic U.S. TV role in several years.

Shatner will play lawyer Denny Crane, a self-aggrandizing but powerful man, in a storyline that will occur during the final six episodes of the season, Zap2it.com reported.

In Shatner's episodes, Crane's firm is up against Young, Frutt and Berlutti in a case. Vince Colosimo ("Lantana") will also guest star in the episodes as a junior partner in Crane's firm who appears deferential until he's crossed.

Shatner, best known as Capt. James T. Kirk on the original "Star Trek" series, has appeared mostly in comedies in recent years. His last regular TV role was in "Tek War" in the mid-1990s. He also has appeared in "Free Enterprise," "Miss Congeniality" and "American Psycho 2," among other films.
