NEW YORK, March 1 (UPI) -- Singer/songwriter/actress Solange Knowles Monday announced her marriage to Daniel Smith, a college football player from her native Houston.
Knowles and Smith were married at a sunset seaside ceremony in the Bahamas during the weekend, surrounded by her large extended family, including her famous sister, Beyonce.
"I am excited about this new phase in my life," Knowles said in a statement. "I am very happy and feel truly blessed to have the unconditional love and support of my parents and my entire family."
Solange Knowles is set to make her feature-film debut in "Johnson Family Vacation," release her second musical album, and star in a still-unnamed new sit-com for UPN.
Knowles will also continue her work as a celebrity spokesman against teen violence.
