LONDON, March 1 (UPI) -- Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood is allegedly drinking to excess, even though doctors have warned the habit may kill him, a London tabloid reported.

The 56-year-old musician promised to give up alcohol two years ago, but is said to be "still acting like a party animal," the Daily Mail said.

Friends fear the relapse could break up Wood's 19-year marriage, as well as critically endanger his health, the Mail said.

Fellow band member Mick Jagger is believed to be so concerned that he has begged the guitarist to go back into a rehabilitation clinic.

"Everyone is very, very worried about him," a source close to the band told the newspaper.

"He is fine when he is on tour, as there are a lot of people watching over him to make sure he doesn't drink. But when he comes out, he goes on huge benders. He thinks it is OK because he is not drinking solidly," the source said.
